A living ecosystem

A place where people, culture, nature and enterprise grow together.

Tourism should not replace the life of a community — it should make it more prosperous.

Stay

Stay inside the ecosystem

Architect-designed living spaces, each shaped by local materials and craft — and every stay shares its value with the people who make it possible.

The central statement

Tourism should not replace the life of a community — it should make it more prosperous.

Tourism grows. Investment grows. Visitor numbers grow. But growth is not automatically shared prosperity. Too often value leaves with outsiders while local people watch.

  • Stronger local economy
  • Better livelihoods
  • Conserved culture & nature
  • Proud communities

What is SUKU?

An intercultural creative habitat — a platform, not a developer

SUKU is an integrated living space with collaborative creative workshops and hospitality. It challenges artisans worldwide to create new living spaces as a creative habitat.

SUKU is not a developer. SUKU is a platform that enables collaboration — between architects, designers, creatives, local communities, capital, culture and technology. Suku is Indonesian for tribe: a unique DNA footprint of where we come from, and a way of living together by contributing our different colours through mutual respect.

  • SSirkularFriendly to environment, society and economy.
  • UUniversalitasLocal values as universal, inclusive inspiration.
  • KKolaborasi KreatifA bridge between people and nations.
  • UUmahHome — a living space for doing good together.

The 5C of SUKU

From concern to commerce — in that order

Commerce is not the first goal. It is the consequence of a living ecosystem.

  1. 01

    Concern

Start from real needs: land, livelihoods, culture and environment.

  2. 02

    Collaborate

Local communities, designers and investors build together, not in sequence.

  3. 03

    Circular

Materials, food and energy loop back into the place that produced them.

  4. 04

    Catalyze

Visitors, workshops and events spark new skills and enterprises.

  5. 05

    Commerce

Fair revenue follows — and is shared with everyone who contributed.

Living space

Not just a building — a place where people live, work, learn and create

SUKU Living Space integrates people, culture, nature and economic activity into one ecosystem. Architects from around the world design the villas; local craft, material and knowledge make them real.

  • Live
  • Work
  • Learn
  • Create
  • Connect

Beyond farming

A closed loop that feeds the place

Farming here is not only about food. It is a designed biological ecosystem: water feeds fish and irrigation, livestock turns waste into feed and fertiliser, soil grows food — and the loop starts again.

  2. Fish

  4. Feed

Culture as capital

Don’t extract value from culture. Create value with it.

Culture is not decoration — it is living capital: knowledge, craft, performance, landscape and tradition that belong to the community and grow when they are used, taught and shared.

  • People: knowledge and local wisdom
  • Landscape: harmony of humans and nature
  • Tradition: practices that sustain the land
  • Community: ownership across generations

The SUKU experience

More than check-in and check-out

A guest does not only sleep here. They arrive, discover, live, eat, learn, make, meet — and take something home that also supports the people they met.

  1. Arrive
  2. Discover
  3. Live
  4. Eat
  5. Learn
  6. Make
  7. Meet
  8. Experience
  9. Buy
  10. Share

Shared prosperity

Everyone who contributes sees the value — in real time

Land owners, villa investors, designers, F&B partners and exhibitors each hold a transparent share of every guest’s stay. When a guest checks out, each collaborator’s wallet is credited and notified instantly. No land displacement: land is contributed as equity.

Percentages are an example. Each villa has its own scheme, set by SUKU’s super admin and always totalling exactly 100%.

      • Land owners

Contribute land as equity and keep ownership.

      • Villa investors

Fund a villa and share in every stay.

      • Designers

Own a living-space design and earn from it.

      • F&B partners

Serve guests and share the ecosystem’s upside.

      • Exhibitors

Show and sell craft to a global audience.

      One model, many places

Built to be replicated — starting in Gianyar

One philosophy, many local expressions. SUKU adapts to each landscape, craft and community instead of copying a template.

A collaborative idea, carried by many hands
